PROJECTS UPDATE

DC1 PROLOGIS PARK, HAMS HALL

Michael Sparks Associates are the architects and master planners for Unit DC1 at Prologis Park, Hams Hall, which has just been completed and handed over to Jaguar Land Rover, for whom the building was designed.

The building, which has a floor area of 38,400 sq m (413,500 sq ft) and an internal height of 18.15 metres, forms the first phase of an 85,000 sq m (915,000 sq ft) industrial and logistics park currently being developed by Prologis at Hams Hall. The development has brought new life to a previously contaminated brown field site that accommodated a major power station.

CAPACITY, DARTFORD

The Capacity development at Dartford, on which Michael Sparks Associates acted as master planners and architects for joint developers Clowes Developments and Exton Estates, was completed in April 2019.

The new industrial park is located on a site formerly used by GSK for pharmaceutical production, and situated in a sensitive location sandwiched between the Dartford Marshes and nearly residential neighbourhoods. The development, which comprises 28,000 sq m (301,300 sq ft) of floor space in three buildings, also includes a new road to provide easy access to the M25 and substantial ecological mitigation.

All the units have now been let, and the occupiers include FedEx, who occupy a mail hub on the site, and Berendsen who are opening a new facility to provide textile cleaning and maintenance services to local organisations.
